Resources
Things that help. In no particular order, and without any claim that one is right for everyone.
Still Standing supports whatever is keeping you sober — sponsors, meetings, therapy, community, or some combination of all of it. The app isn't a replacement for any of that. These are places worth knowing about.
If you need help right now
- 988 — Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (US). Call or text, 24/7.
- SAMHSA National Helpline — 1-800-662-4357. Free, confidential, 24/7. Substance use and mental health referrals.
- Crisis Text Line — Text HOME to 741741 (US).
Meeting finders
- Alcoholics Anonymous — In-person and online meetings worldwide. The AA meeting finder covers the US and links to international directories.
- SMART Recovery — Science-based, secular approach. No steps, no sponsor requirement. Good for people who want something evidence-based or who aren't drawn to the 12-step framework.
- Refuge Recovery — Mindfulness and Buddhist-informed. In-person and online.
- Women for Sobriety — Community and meetings specifically for women in recovery.
- Al-Anon — For families and people who love someone with a drinking problem. Often overlooked, always relevant.
Online communities
- The Luckiest Club — Online recovery community with daily meetings. Modern feel, large and active. Good if in-person meetings aren't accessible or aren't your thing.
- r/stopdrinking — One of the largest online sobriety communities. Anonymous, honest, no gatekeeping on what kind of drinker you were or whether you call yourself an alcoholic.
Treatment and professional help
- SAMHSA Treatment Locator — Find substance use treatment facilities near you. Filters for inpatient, outpatient, sliding scale, and more.
- Psychology Today Therapist Finder — Filter by specialty (addiction, substance use), insurance, and location.
This list isn't exhaustive and isn't an endorsement of any program over another. Recovery looks different for everyone. If something is working for you, keep doing it.
